This certificate program equips students with industry-specific knowledge that complements a wide range of majors—from design and hospitality to agriculture and marketing. A hands-on internship tailored to each student’s career goals ensures real-world experience in this dynamic field.
Frankfort
The program provides students with real-world, hands-on experience in chemistry, food safety, and marketing and management required in these growing fields, as well as work with the university's partners at distilleries, wineries, and breweries in the Frankfort area.

Louisville
This is where you, as a bourbon enthusiast, can expand your horizons through study and testing and then go forth to help educate the world about the wonders of bourbon.
Moonshine University is the premier education provider for all things distilling. Located in the heart of Bourbon country, it's natural that the world-class distillery school would also offer a special curriculum dedicated to America's native spirit.
The University of Louisville offers an online Distilled Spirits Business Certificate. The program, through the College of Business, is designed for current or future distilled spirits professionals eager to gain a broad knowledge of business operations in the industry.
Midway
The courses teach students the industry's history and bourbon's role in Kentucky’s tourism industry, and they prepare them to gain entry-level employment at distilleries or within the tourism industry.
Northern Kentucky
Introducing the Norse Spirit Society, a community program developed in partnership with MeetNKY and New Riff Distilling. Over the course of five engaging sessions throughout the year, members will explore the rich world of bourbon—from its history and cultural impact to tourism, blending, food pairings, and more. Earning the Certified Bourbon Professional™ designation results in the life-long privilege to carry the title and use its postnominals, “CBP." Upon passing the exam, candidates receive our printed diploma and lapel pin in digital and physical versions.
