Release Date: Aug 07, 2012

Louisville, Ky. (August 7, 2012) – Kentucky’s native spirit and local ingredients are thefocus of Charr’d Bourbon Kitchen and Lounge, a new restaurant open in Louisville’s east end.

The restaurant is located in the new Marriott Louisville East at 1903 Embassy Square Blvd. in the popular Hurstbourne corridor. The casually sophisticated restaurant features a bourbon-inspired menu, highlighting locally and regionally sourced ingredients, as well as a bar stocked with more than 80 different bourbons.

Charr’d recruited Chef Ryan Montgomery, formerly of famed restaurant Masa’s in San Francisco, and most recently of Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse at Belterra Casino, to head up the kitchen.

“Charr’d offers a true taste of Kentucky,” Montgomery said. “Bourbon is America’s native spirit which is why we’re excited to provide both visitors and locals a taste of Kentucky’s culture straight from the heart of bourbon country.”

The Charr’d menu makes pre- and post-Prohibition references to creatively divide its menu into sections, including “Before 1920” (appetizers), “Prohibition” (salads) ,“After 1933,” (entrees), “Side Cars” (side items), as well as a “Bootlegger Burger Bar” with burger selections using bourbon mayonnaise and bourbon barbecue sauce, among others.

The menu also showcases signature bourbon cocktails like the Chocolate Mint Julep, a twist on the classic cocktail with Four Roses Bourbon, mint and Godiva liqueur; the Maker’s 46 Manhattan featuring Maker’s Mark 46 bourbon and a splash of sweet Vermouth and a chocolate cherry; and the Old Pappy Bourbon Ball with Old Pappy 10-year-old, white crème de cocoa and Frangelico.

Much of Charr’d’s décor takes its cues from the bourbon industry, featuring bourbon barrel-inspired woods and stone reminiscent of the Kentucky limestone that distillers say enhance the flavor of Kentucky Bourbon. Charr’d offers a cozy, plush seating area for more than 160 patrons, plus an additional 16 seats in a private dining room and 17 bar stools in the lounge.
